We were very pleased to host the Stroud Life Business Awards at the Old Lodge last Wednesday. The awards have established themselves as the most prestigious event in the local calendar since they were first held five years ago and we had a lovely time celebrating with some of the area's best and most innovative companies. All the guests were greeted with prosecco on arrival and went on to enjoy a menu that included salmon roulade, goats cheese and caramelised red onion tart, Chicken Supreme and fresh Cotswold strawberries. We've got a few pictures to share with you from the night, and we'd like to say a big congratulations to all the winners - you can see pictures of them at the Stroud Life website.
Filming has begun in the Stroud area for the adaptation of JK Rowling's latest novel, The Casual Vacancy. The production is based on Rowling's first adult novel and the first she completed after the word famous series of Harry Potter books and is being made by the BBC in association with HBO, the American productioncompany behind smash hit series Game of Thrones. The series stars Michael Gambon, Keeley Hawes and Rory Kinnear and revolves around a battle for power on the council of the fictional town of Pagford. We aren't sure what scenes were being filmed yet, but we're very excited that we're going to be television stars, and we managed to sneak a few pictures of what was going on behind the scenes. Watch this space for info about the screening date!
You may not know that Nick and Chistophe farm a little bit of land in Woodchester near the Old Fleece called Grigshot Orchard. The farm supplies a limited amount of lamb, Gloucester Old Spot pork and venison to our restaurants, meaning that we're able to offer traceable, free range and well-loved meat. The farm is very lively at the moment because we've recently had a few new arrivals - take a look at these pictures and see if your heart doesn't melt.
No, it's not for some exotic new recipe, but the brand new Garden Grill at the Old Lodge! The Garden Grill launched with a bang last Saturday but it needs a few finishing touches in the shape of some lovely bamboo dressing which Nick and Christophe have been harvesting in sunny France this week. The Garden Grill will be open from noon until 9pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the summer, so come and join us for some delicious barbecued treats and the gorgeous views across Minchinhampton Common.
